Welcome Message from the CAMT President

On behalf of the Canadian Association of Music Therapists, it is my pleasure to invite you to attend the 17th World Congress of Music Therapy taking place in Vancouver, Canada from July 24 – 29, 2023. For many of us, this will be the first in-person opportunity in recent years to (re)connect with colleagues, both old and new. The Congress will be a hybrid event, with both in-person and virtual attendance options, so those who are unable to join us in-person will still have an opportunity to meet new faces and see familiar ones.

Vancouver is a beautiful city, with ample opportunities for reflection and connection. The fresh ocean air and lovely scenery is sure to provide rejuvenation.  The multicultural atmosphere of the city will inspire you and is an ideal backdrop for the global music therapy community to come together. Thanks to technology, we can share this experience together as we aim to ensure an enriching congress for all, whether you are attending virtually or in-person.

We hope you will join us in our inaugural hosting of the World Congress of Music Therapy! We look forward to showcasing Canadian culture and the diversity of music therapy and music therapists across our vast country. We are also eager to learn about music therapy practices and research trends from countries around the world. It is a time of global innovation, and it is our privilege to partake in this growth together.

Welcome Message from the WFMT President

Welcome!

As President of the World Federation of Music Therapy (WFMT), I am so excited for WFMT to partner with the Canadian Association of Music Therapists (CAMT) to bring you the 17th World Congress of Music Therapy. Thank you to CAMT for jumping on board and envisioning our first in-person and virtual (hybrid) World Congress of Music Therapy. We are thrilled to connect with you in beautiful Vancouver and online. We look forward to the joy of making music together and sharing research and practice knowledge.

“Music Therapists: Reflecting, Connecting and Innovating in the Global Community” is the theme of the congress. Indeed it is a time to reflect on practices and endeavors we wish to continue, change, or embark upon as we navigate a global opportunity for transformation. It will be a jubilant experience to connect and network with you face to face once again. We certainly hope you can join us in the educational, cultural, and rejuvenating experiences this congress offers to our global music therapy community.

Sincerely,

Anita Swanson
