Dan was raised by the ocean in the beautiful Epekwitk (Prince Edward Island) and currently lives in Tkaronto (Toronto). He finds deep fulfillment working as a Certified Music Therapist and professional vocalist, as well as studying to become a psychotherapist. Dan embraces an anti-oppressive approach to care with the intention of nurturing meaningful and autonomous client connections with self, others, and communities.

Past-President of the WFMT. She is the director of Music Therapy Master’s Program and Vice-director of Academic Affairs at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (Barcelona).
Her clinical work and research focus on the area of dementia. She is a member of the Singular Música i Alzheimer team (Barcelona, Spain) and leader of IAMM-Special Interest Group “Music therapy in the context of Dementia: People with Dementia and their caregivers”. She has published extensively nationally and internationally especially in the area of Music Therapy and Dementias.
Currently she serves on the Board of Directors of the International Association of Music and Medicine and the Editorial board of the Journal of Music Therapy.

Jennifer Buchanan, MBA, MTA is the Executive Director of the Canadian Association of Music Therapists and a certified music therapist (MTA) with over 30 years of private practice experience. She holds an MBA in leadership, specializing in social entrepreneurship. Jennifer is the author of several books featuring music therapy and health business development, and often presents at international healthcare, education and corporate wellness conventions.

Hayley Francis Cann, BMT, NMT, MTA, MScAH is a Bermudian-Canadian certified music therapist and neurologic music therapist with clinical experience in a variety of settings. Hayley completed a Masters of Science in Aging and Health at Queen’s University, has released two Children’s books, is a member of the Dementia Society of America Advisory Council and the serving Professional Developmental Chair for the Canadian Association of Music Therapists (CAMT). In everything she does, Hayley aims to provide an authentic experience that is respectful toward all people no matter their age, diagnosis, background, race, religion, or additional social locators.

Aksana Kavaliova-Moussi, MMT, MACP, RP, MTA, is a psychotherapist (Family Counselling Center Niagara) and music therapist in private practice (Niagara region). Aksana is a secretary for the WFMT, co-chair of the Online Conference for Music Therapy, vice-president of the Music Therapy Association of Ontario.

Certified Music Therapist Pam Lansbergen has been working for CAMT since 2013 with a focus on delivering member services including planning annual national conferences. When not at work, Pam enjoys spending time with her husband, cats and dog, and is an avid trail runner. Pam has a Bachelor in Music Therapy from the University of Windsor (2005), and a Professional Certificate in Not-for-Profit Management from the University of Western Ontario (2016).

Méliane Laurier-Cromp, MTA, is a Certified Music Therapist who works with vulnerable children at the Centre de Pédiatrie Sociale (social paediatrics) in Laval, QC. She helps children between 3 and 14 years old who have diverse cultural backgrounds. Méliane has a Graduate Certificate in Music Therapy from Concordia University, Montréal, and a Masters degree in Music Theory from McGill University. She has presented her work at the Canadian music therapy conference and at the Social paediatrics clinical days, and frequently receives interns in music therapy at the centre.

Susan Summers, PhD, MTA is a Vancouver-based Certified Music Therapist and Vocal Psychotherapist. She teaches in Capilano University’s music therapy program and has worked clinically with older adults for over 30 years. Susan has a long history of leadership on provincial and national boards, is a common presenter at conferences and has attended five World Congresses. She is thrilled to welcome the world community to Vancouver in 2023!

Kayla is an accredited music therapist and graduate of the Bachelor of Music Therapy Program from Capilano University. As the founder and co-owner of Soul Sounds Music Therapy in Kelowna BC, Kayla has initiated novel music therapy programs and collaborated with various local and provincial organizations to increase music therapy accessibility. Kayla also serves as the Regional Representative of Interior Health and Ce Workshop Co-Chair for the Music Therapy Association of BC.

Dr. Petra Kern, MT-BC, MTA, DMtG is a consultant, publisher and award-winning educator and researcher. As former President of WFMT and member of numerous national and international committees and review boards, her service to the #WCMT2023 is powered by knowledge, experiences, and a global understanding of the field. As the Scientific Committee Chair, she works in close collaboration with Pam Lansbergen and leads the international board of reviewers.
